I found an interesting article to be shared with (hard copy version). In case I lost the copy, still have it in my own blog. It's kind of motivational article, about GTY project. What is GTY? GTY stands for Greater Than Yourself...I modified the article a bit. I hope can be a part of this GTY project.
At the office, sometimes we do not satisfy with some people's work, give up and always complain here and there. We scold them especially for those who are repeatedly do the same mistake. Actually there is no point for scolding them. The accident or mistake do occur in our life. But it is a nature of human heart to get angry when there is something goes wrong.
So this article give a solution how to overcome those problems. We should try it. Try to pick someone at work (work in the same unit) to invest in. For example a senior executive choose the executive to be trained. Set our mind and have an intention to make that selected person greater than we are. Try to be a coach and guide him or her as much as we can. Give them everything. Teach them to be better than we are. However before starting this GTY project, we need to be sure that we had learnt the right lessons and master our work. This project does not mean after we teach someone to replace and cover our work, eventually we have nothing to do at work. On the other hand, we need to improve ourselves by mastering other kind of work. Always looking for a new. Don't stay in the comfort zone. We as a mentor need to do more work than our mentee, then we are entitled to be a great leader. If we want the best, try to be the best in the first place. In any organization, the employer hopes the staff to be at the fullest level.
Dare to be different. Dare to fail. Just have a try to be the first one who starts this project. And don't be surprised if through our example the whole organisation rises to establish itself as the new standard of leadership.
